Do you see children?
Absolutely! We enjoy seeing children for routine eye check-ups or for any other specific concerns. It is not uncommon for a child to "fail" a routine school vision screening check. We see this type of referral almost daily. This often does not represent a severe sight threatening condition, but it does need to be evaluated.

What is "Mission Cataract/Project Cataract" and am I eligible?
Project Cataract is a missions oriented program to provide cataract surgery for individuals in need of cataract surgery who are unable to pay for this procedure. Although cataract surgery is relatively common, it requires significant equipment, training, and expertise. This makes it quite expensive for those individuals without health insurance. Dr. Gourley and Dr. Hogue are able to provide this procedure, free of charge, to qualified individuals. Dozens of patients have had their sight restored each year through this wonderful program. Patients are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. The program is for people who have no health insurance and are not eligible for funding through other sources such as Medicare/Medicaid, VA benefits, etc... Please call our office for details if you or someone you know might benefit from this program.

Do you accept unwanted glasses for donation?
Yes. We will put them to good use. Dr. Gourley and Dr. Hogue go on ophthalmology medical mission trips as often as possible. These unwanted eyeglasses are cleaned, measured, cataloged and then given to these less fortunate people during these mission trips. A pair of glasses can sometimes be simply unobtainable to many of these people groups. A pair of glasses often means the difference between being able to provide for ones family with dignity or having to beg for food in the streets. Your donation can restore vision to someone who would otherwise be effectively blind.
